Strange fruits

In Belgium, strange fruit grows on trees. In De Haan, a pretty village by the sea, streets are decorated with heavy garbage bags. I first thought this was an installation, a militant gesture to symbolize what our consumer society mainly produces today. But no; it’s just a way to save the trash from bag ripping foxes, dogs and cats. There, garbage men no longer collect trash bags, they pick them from the trees. For sure, sidewalks are cleaner, but hung at nose height, it does change the salt air’s scent, particularly during heatwaves.
