Sauver la ZAD

Rage and shame for Notre-Dame des Landes. Ungratefulness of the nation towards these « illegal occupants ». Without their courage, a useless airport would have destroyed the wooded meadows of Nantes. And in place of crowning glory, lives the desire to crush. This handful of die-hards forced the State to capitulate, and today the State takes its revenge, incited by those unable make their big bucks with Vinci. By ransacking the unbearably romantic sheds, they hope to crush the dreams these symbolize. But, make no mistake: these destructions are retaliatory; no less than State vandalism. Because there is no incentive whatsoever, in destroying the ZAD of Notre-Dame des Landes. It does no harm. It simply attempts alternative lifestyles. Meanwhile, the return to “republican order” is applauded by the good folk, those that Brassens sang of, who don’t like it when another route than theirs is undertaken. Now that’s short-sighted, especially when it’s headed straight for the wall. We’d do better by saving the ZAD and to listening to its soaring song. It’s as beautiful as a new dawn.
