David Coulthard just celebrated his fiftieth. With his thirteen F1 victories, he is the worthy successor to Jim Clark and Jackie Stewart – what’s in the water of their lochs that would explain why Scotland produces such champions? I like this photo of David because it reflects the thoughtful, concentrated, hardworking, determined driver. Not a daredevil but a man tranquil in the knowledge that talent is nothing without hard graft.
